Social Development Coordinator

The role of a Social Development Coordinator is to support vulnerable populations in the Kitimat area.
The District of Kitimat is committed to building a stronger, more inclusive community. Through a partnership with Kitimat Community Services Society and funding from Northern Development Initiative Trust, the Social Development Coordinator will focus on supporting vulnerable populations and enhancing community well-being.

Working in close collaboration with local agencies, government departments, and community partners, the Social Development Program Coordinator helps identify service gaps and develop programs and policies that promote social equity, health, and inclusion.

Key Focus Areas

  • Identifying and addressing service gaps through research and advocacy
  • Supporting affordable housing initiatives in collaboration with local partners
  • Raising public awareness about available community resources and supports
  • Advocating for equity for seniors, people with disabilities, youth, and those impacted by mental health or addictions
  • Collecting and analyzing data to guide informed policy and service development
  • Engaging the community through public meetings, focus groups, and collaborative planning sessions

This role is crucial in ensuring that all Kitimat residents—especially those most in need—have access to the resources and support systems that enable them to thrive.
